Early George Nelson Coconut Chair
in Alexander Girard Fabric
The coconut chair is an icon of mid-century design from the office of George Nelson and Assoc. The deceptively simple design features a triangular seat of steel with an upholstered seat pad supported by a chromed steel tripod base.
Very comfortable with a relaxed pitch, wide seat and soft curves, the chair allows the sitter a variety of postures and positions.
This early vintage example produced by Herman Miller has upholstery in a red and blue check designed by Alexander Girard.
