An exceptional early example of the iconic design by Charles and Ray Eames with great provenance, this 670 lounge chair and matching 671 ottoman is entirely original. It features down-filled cushions, rosewood shells, rubber spacers, and has a well-worn patina to the leather, attesting to the age of this vintage piece. The down filling gives the chair not only great comfort, but also the look of a "well-worn first baseman's mitt" that Charles Eames famously wanted. We acquired this fantastic chair directly from a former Herman Miller executive who got it in the 1950s. One of the most unusual features of this example is the stamp on the bottom of the chair and ottoman which states "Reject". Apparently, employees get the best price on a piece of Herman Miller furniture if a friend on the production line deemed it a reject. There is nothing wrong with the chair that would warrant that designation.

The Eames lounge is equally at home in a contemporary modernist house as it is in an antique-filled period home. This chair is one that an advanced collector who appreciates originality and wants a chair that attests to years of use and enjoyment
