Georgia-based scupltor Gordon Chandler created a series of large benches in the 1990s using reclaimed metal. They were intended to be used either indoors or out. This beautiful example is made of painted steel and stainless steel, incorporating found forms of industrially produced machine parts and ceiling joyst. It has acquired a terrific patina from having been outdoors for years and is signed with a placquard and the number designation 1205. It is equal parts sculpture and functional object.
