Oil Painting by Sacha Kolin

 

This earlier work in oil by Sacha Kolin clearly shows the influence of studies in color harmony and the push/ pull theories expoused by Hans Hoffman. In fact, Kolin hosted experimental color workshop in her studio with Bauhaus graduate Hannes Beckman in the 1950s. Using subtle shifts in hue and value Kolin creates visual depth in the otherwise flat planar composition.

 

This painting was exhibited 1952 at Burliuk Gallery, 119 W 57th St, NYC, in solo exhibition.

 

The painting is signed on the front LR and is expertly framed under protective glass.
