When David and Amy Carter met in 1996, their shared passion for mid-century modern, art, architecture, and design caused their combined collection to quickly grow. In 1999 they launched Pegboard Modern in Chicago. They created their first website four years later. With an extensive background in fine art and graphic design, and as collectors themselves, the Carter’s approach is one based on connoisseurship and the belief that good art and design can be life-affirming.
While the Carter's main areas of interest and expertise are post-war American and Scandinavian design, Pegboard Modern strives to offer a diverse collection at a range of prices while maintaining a high level of quality. They love to share their passion and engage with customers to impart the history of the objects they have on offer. You can see some of the sold pieces here in the archive. As long time collectors, they have been fortunate enough to assemble a nice personal collection, a portion of which can been seen here. Some of these items are available for exhibition loan and rental.
