This wonderful little table is by Lucia Eames, daughter of Charles Eames. Lucia created a diverse body of work in a range of media– from photography to works in textile, paper and steel including functional objects like chairs and tables. Regardless of the media, she repeatedly used imagery and motifs from nature and graphic icons. 
 
This petit table typifies her work in steel, using cut-aways to emphasize her play with positive and negative space and light and shadow. The round, three legged form has a top in the shape of a heart and is painted a vivid red.
 
While it can serve as a small table, riser, or surface, it's primary function is to serve as a charming artwork.
