This very large, very impressive piece designed by Marianne Willisch features a king-size storage headboard is flanked by two large nightstands/ bookcases.
Willisch (Austrian, born 1897) was an important interior designer inspired by Bauhaus principals who had many significant comissions inclusing three of the 1933 "Century of Progress" World's Fair" exhibition homes and the 1965 Pritzker House.
This is one of several custom built pieces Willisch designed in 1969 for a client in Munster, IN (a Chicago suburb).
The headboard is 78.25" wide and has storage for pillows or bed linens, it is flanked on two sides by two 68" nighstands, each with a drop-down table that conceals a storage cubby, a pull-out drawer, and a cabinet/ bookcase with two adjustable shelves. The 11.75" deep top is perfect for placing lamp/ lighting, art and decorative objects.
