Words fail us when describing the subtle beauty, grace, and incredible craftsmanship of this set of six Ole Wanscher chairs made by cabinetmaker A.J. Iversen in Copenhagen, Denmark. They are just outstanding in every respect: the beauty of the rosewood, the fine joinery, and the incredible detailing. They truly have to be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Wanscher (1903-1985) studied under Kaare Klint at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, later working for Klint from 1925 to 1927 before establishing his own studio. In 1955 Wanscher assumed the professorship from Klint. Wanscher's designs are firmly rooted in the Klint tradition while building on a modern idiom and taking inspiration from British 19th century designs– particularly the Colonial chair and sofa. Wanscher's most significant designs were created from the late 40s to the late 60s, winning a gold medal at the 1960 Triennale di Milano. In addition to an active career and his professorship, Wanscher wrote several books about design history.

This set is in excellent vintage condition and are upholstered with a dark brown faux leather. Please do not hesitate to contact us for additional images or with any questions.
