The "Chaise Sandows" is an important design by René Herbst that he introduced at the Paris Salon d'Automne des Artistes Decorateurs in 1929. His innovative use of an external tubular steel frame with elastic cords for the seat and back looks as starkly modern today as it did then. The pitch of the back is adjustable to several positions. The striking minimalist form embraces the industrial machine aesthetic.

This pair is from a 1980s edition by Ecart International and are entirely original. The frames are in very good original condition, the straps exhibit varying degrees of wear and sagging.
