Robert Brackman Oil Painting

This exquisite portrait of a woman by Robert Brackman (1898 – 1980) shows a wonderful play of subtly shifting and mottling tones while maintaining a unified color palate. The semi-nude woman is caught in a pensive moment.

Brackman is known for his figurative paintings and still lives. He was an inspirational teacher at the Art Students League of New York and painted portraits of important figures in society. This painting was executed in oil on linen.
